What is a Doula?

Translated from ancient Greek, Doula means ‘handmaiden or servant’. However, as a modern day Doula, an experienced mother can provide continuity of care and support during pregnancy and labour.

“The presence of a Doula can reduce the overall caesarean rate by 26%, the need for pain medication by 28% and the use of forceps by 41%. The study shows that women using a female birth companion were 36% more likely to be satisfied with their birth experience.”

What is Offered?

A comprehensive package of care both during the last trimester of pregnancy and labour including:

· Advice on writing a birth plan

· Proven breathing and relaxation techniques—Ann is ‘Rebozo’ trained

· Advice on labour and birth positions

· On call support 1 week either side of your due date

· 100% attendance and commitment during labour

The strength and security that you helped me find during Ava’s birth cannot really be described. I feel like we all went through it together; we all gave birth to her.
